Alongside is seeking skilled, compassionate home support caregivers with hands-on experience with seniors. You will be expected to live in clients homes on a 1 week or 2 week rotation. We accept clients from across Nova Scotia, and travel allowance will be provided. As an independent contract worker you are free to accept a case based on whether it’s a good fit for you.

We seek integrity and commitment first and foremost. Patience is a virtue and a must when working with the elderly. Many clients present cognitive issues, like early dementia. Though important, simply supporting the clients practical needs like cooking, light housekeeping, laundry, is not enough. An employee's commitment to care and respect for the client's dignity has to be central so that the senior and their family feel you are alongside them in their daily living and supporting well-being. 

Professionalism, communication skills, and an excellent work ethic are key. You not only represent yourself in the seniors you serve, but also the high standards of Alongside Live-In Home Support.

• A copy of your current CPR/First Aid certification
• Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks
  

We will provide you:

• Ongoing, compassionate support as management
• Travel allowance
• Periodic Professional Development Workshops
• A rate of pay starting at $1400/week ($2800 for 2 weeks)
• Acknowledgement of a job well done
  

What the client provides the caregiver:

• A safe bedroom apart from client’s bedroom
• 4 hours respite a week
• Meals for the caregiver (just what is being prepared)
• Use of bathroom, washer, dryer, kitchen
• Wifi + password
• A respectful work environment
• To be able to adhere to a consistent sleep schedule, with occasional night time interruptions
